If you have a F2P account, there are some F2P gear items for you to get.
You may be limited to what you can get your hands on as an F2P player in Old School Runescape, but there are still some gems out there. With that in mind, here are some great pieces of gear that you can obtain with a free to play account.
Table of Contents
This weapon will find its way to the top of many players’ lists of the best F2P gear in Old School Runescape. There aren’t really many situations in which this scimitar isn’t effective. Its main appeal is that it has the highest DPS for a melee weapon that F2P players can get, and it’s a cheap option for you to use as well.
If you are an F2P player, then you will be able to purchase the Rune Scimitar from the Grand Exchange for a relatively low price. Alternatively, you could smith your own if your smithing skill is up to 90.
Full God Rune Armour
This armour set is very effective if you can get your hands on it, and looks really cool too. You can choose between Zamorak, Bandos, Guthix, Saradomin, Ancient and Armadyl when it comes to the armours you can choose from. What makes this armour special is the additional Prayer bonus of +4 that you get with it, which can be more than handy in certain situations such as PvP.
To get your hands on it however, you are going to have to try and get it from the Grand Exchange if you are an F2P player. This is because it can only really be found through clue scrolls with a members account.
The Rune Battleaxe
Moving onto weaponry now, and this particular item offers high damage albeit with a slower hit compared to alternatives. This one-handed item is beneficial due to its capabilities and it still giving you the opportunity to have a defence weapon equipped as well. With that being said, its melee strength is only 6 off from a two-handed rune sword, so you can have the security of having some kind of defence weapon as well. In comparison to that particular sword, you do have to consider that it has lower accuracy. Whether you feel its worth the sacrifice when comparing the two weapons will ultimately decide which is better for you.
If you want to get this weapon, firstly you need to have your smithing skill up to 95 to get your own. Alternatively, you can use your OSRS GP to purchase one from the Grand Exchange.
Rune 2H Sword
This seems like a natural progression from the last entry in the list. This is a weapon that is frequented in PvP and is one of the best weapons of its kind in the entirety of Old School Runescape. This also provides a cheaper alternative to the Hill Giant Club, as it has very similar stats. It’s combo abilities are incredibly effective, and you can switch between it and a ranged weapon with ease.
To get a Rune 2H Sword that you can call your own, you will first need to get your smithing skill all the way to 99. Don’t worry if you don’t have the time for such activities, as they are also on sale at the Grand Exchange. Cost wise, you won’t get much change out of 40,000 OSRS gold. It shouldn’t exactly break the bank, so don’t worry about having to find someone with OSRS gold for sale, since you won’t need to buy OSRS gold to afford it.
There are of course ranged OSRS weapons that deserve a place on this list, and the Maple Shortbow certainly earns its place here. It can be a great weapon to use for PvP and training your skills to get them up to scratch. You only have to be level 30 to equip it, and it can fire out arrows up to adamant arrows too. For what you are getting, it is very good for value. You aren’t going to be spending a lot of OSRS gold to get one, that’s for sure, which is amazing considering what the bow is actually capable of compared to Twisted bow.
If you want to get your very own Maple Shortbow, then you can simply purchase one from the Grand Exchange. They are also for sale in Varrock over at Lowe’s Archery Emporium. Meanwhile, if you are a member, then you can also fletch this shortbow using maple logs and a knife. Whichever method you choose, you are getting a great weapon.
