Concrete Floor Textures

It is good to provide refreshment on concrete basics to understand what is finished.

There are many variations in concrete. However, all concrete consists of three main parts. The following is:

  • Portland cement, fine powder made from a mixture of burnt limestone and clay that reacts to chemically and hard water.
  • Aggregate (usually sand and rock)
  • Water
  • A pasta that wraps aggregate is made by mixing water with cement. When this pasta hardens, a concrete form.

When do you have to finish the concrete?

Concrete must be finished when drying. Depending on the type of material found below it, the time of day, and the temperature outside, the time to start adding textures or finishing can vary from about 30-40 minutes after pouring.

What does the concrete finishing mean?

Concrete finished is the use of different techniques and equipment to make the concrete surface look better and have more practical use.

What are the steps to complete the concrete?

Sometimes, concrete leveling includes “Tamping,” but the important thing is to filter at least the cement surface is poured so that the same high surface is high.

  1. Float – Need to use a tool like a bull floating to compress aggregate, or larger pieces in cement, to bring a more subtle part, “Croution” from the mixture to the surface. Once on the surface, this cement component will help fill the gap and smooth the uneven surface.
  2. Watch – Sometimes cement will be “bloody” water. If this happens, other floating types can be used to eliminate things.
  3. Edge – Tool edge is used between forms and cement to make edges and angles.
  4. Cut – if a little concrete is poured, especially outdoors, like on the road or sidewalk, we cut the control joints. This joint helps prevent cracks when the temperature is out of fluctuating. The control joints are usually spaced equitable and made in the first 24 hours after the cement cast.
  5. Trowel – Shovel is used to ensure the project has a smooth surface. Or, the broom can provide a different texture.

Some of the reasons for the determined concrete finish are to provide paths and entrances with feet and vehicle handles, when wet, smooth roads may be slippery and dangerous, almost like walking on tiles. Another reason for the finish concrete is when you need a floor that must be clean and easy to clean, such as an outdoor dining / kitchen area or workshop.

What kind of concrete finish?

After the concrete is placed, various concrete finishes can be added depending on the intended use. This concrete finish is as follows:

1. Tamped Finish.

Complete Tamped Concrete is done using a tamping beam, which is used to compress the concrete until it is fully healed to increase its strength. Finished Tamped made by pushing the tamping beam up and down in quick succession along the surface of the concrete floor in the same direction. Tamping produces a rough surface with horizontal flow which significantly increases the grip. Tamped Concrete is also used for sidewalks or areas such as Farmyard. This type is best for shoes to walk for concrete on work.

2. Cove finish.

Finished Cove is made with a shovel that provides a circular texture. Smooth circular design provides concrete high slip resistance and increases strength. This is a semi-coarse textured finish that looks like a swirl and number 8 when applied – finish popular to the entrance, walkway, outdoor entertainment area, and sidewalk swimming pool.

3. Salt finish.

Salt finish is achieved by integrating crude stone salt crystals on the new concrete surface placed using rollers. When the concrete is applied, it was washed with water. This finish provides a rough texture but is decorated into plain or colored concrete. Skid resistance offers make it very useful for swimming pools or other wet areas.
