In our family, it always seemed  like we can’t spend a week without getting into a body of water for recreational purposes. Whether we are in a swimming pool, lake, or even the ocean. Regardless of our active lifestyle, my mom developed a condition that made it difficult for her to swim. So, we stopped going to the beach, or pools. But being the water-loving family that we arem my dad went out and got the best inflatable hot tub as a gift to my mom on her birthday. Suffice it to say, she loved it. Soon enough she wanted to invite people over to join us. But then summer rolled around and we wondered how normal it would be to use the hot tub during the summer. Here are my thoughts about it.

The Heating Element Is Not Crucial To Its Functioning

If your concern is that people would feel the heat even more when they are in the warm water of the hot tub, you can simply turn off the heating unit. The only system that you cannot turn off completely is the water filtration system – which is usually also the jet system of a hot tub. If you prefer to reduce the bubbles, some models allow for adjustable jet pressure, but the jets need to be kept running in order to prevent the water from stagnating and developing a foul smell (which means it is unsanitary).

Warm Water Can Be Incredibly Relaxing

Even though it’s summer, some people still enjoy short dips in warm water to help ease the tension in their muscles. There’s nothing wrong with that, and if you have a few friends who agree—throw them a party! Hot tubs were never meant to be strictly for winter, or else the manufacturers would have ensured they would run smoother in cooler weather (which they don’t). In fact, in some areas of extreme winter climate, people need to take drastic measures to keep the hot tub system functioning somewhat efficiently.

Cool Summer Nights Are Perfect For A Dip

Most areas (in North America at least) have cooler nights in the summer. That makes for the perfect conditions for getting into a hot tub—the weather won’t be cold enough to substantially affect the heating mechanism, and you won’t feel the shock of cold air when you get out of the hot tub. Also, after a day of physical activity (swimming, walking, hiking) that is common during the summer months, you’ll love feeling the warm bubbly water against your sore muscles. Nothing like relaxing after a day of physical activity.

Conclusion

To answer the question, it’s perfectly fine to use a hot tub during the summer—whether you turn on the heating element or not. At the end of the day, you should enjoy the hot tub however you like, and whenever you like, so long as you abide by the safety regulations and take the necessary precautions as per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
