Q: Can you share with us the beginnings of your career and what led you to the field of engineering?

A: My career in engineering began with a deep-rooted fascination for technology and its potential to shape the future. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University and an MBA in Business Analytics. Then I was drawn to the tech industry’s challenges and opportunities. My early days in Hyderabad, working as a System Administrator, were pivotal. They taught me the intricacies of software and systems, and that role really set the stage for my future endeavors.

Q: Your move from India to the San Francisco Bay Area marked a major step in your career. What motivated this move, and how did it influence your career trajectory?

A: I moved to the Bay Area – a global tech hub – because I wanted to be at the forefront of technological advancements. I held roles at Standav Corp and Castlight Health that were instrumental in shaping my approach to system optimization and infrastructure management. These experiences broadened my technical expertise and sharpened my leadership abilities. And they prepared me for the challenges and opportunities in the EV sector.

Q: Could you describe your role and the major projects you’ve led that highlight your impact on the company?

A: My role within the realm of electric vehicles has honestly gone beyond traditional engineering boundaries. I’ve had the privilege of leading projects that tangibly impact our engineering processes and tools. Transitioning our source code management from Bitbucket to GitHub was a milestone that enhanced collaboration and streamlined development. Another key project was optimizing our Artifactory ecosystem. It revolutionized how we manage binaries and dependencies, and it accelerated the development cycle.

Q: What challenges did you face during these transitions, and what lessons did you learn?

A: Integrating new tools into a complex ecosystem was certainly challenging. One of the biggest lessons learned was the importance of clear communication and stakeholder engagement. It taught me how important strategic planning is – you need to look ahead, but at the same time, be ready to embrace change and spark new ideas at a moment’s notice.

Q: That’s no easy balancing act. But we know you’re driving innovation in the EV sector; so what future projects or goals are you most excited about?

A: I’m excited about further upgrading our engineering tools and processes to improve efficiency. I believe this will contribute to the mission of accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy. My goal is to continue research and development in EV technology so that our engineering capabilities are always at the cutting edge.

Q: We understand that you recently won a notable award; can you share more about that?

A: I am deeply honored to have been named a 2024 Titan Business Awards Platinum Winner in the Information Technology – Technical Professional of the Year category, recognizing my efforts in orchestrating complex migrations and implementing innovative strategies within the industry.

Q: Can you tell us about your work as a peer reviewer?

A: I have actively contributed to the academic community by performing reviews for various prestigious publications, including the IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium and the IEEE Open Journal of Vehicular Technology. I provide detailed evaluations and expertise to advance research and development within these specialized fields.

Q: Finally, what advice would you give to aspiring engineers looking to make their mark in the industry?

A: My advice would be to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, stay committed to continuous learning, and always keep a holistic perspective. Look beyond your immediate problems at the bigger picture. The path to engineering excellence is paved with perseverance, finding creative solutions, and mustering the courage to drive change.
