Fire Watch Guard checklist

Checklist 1: Evacuation routes

Fire watch guards will check your escape routes to see if they are blocked or otherwise obstructed. In case of fire, multiple exits increase the possibility that everyone can leave safely in accordance with the requirements of fire protection regulations. 2 However, if your employees or customers cannot access these exits, or even open them, they are useless.

Fire Watch Guards will check your belongings to make sure you have the following items:

Each exit door is connected by a corridor that is at least 36 inches wide.

An exit door is easy to open and for locking too.

If your facility has fire doors, make sure they can be closed without any obstacles.

List 2: Emergency exit lighting

All escape routes must not only be unobstructed, but must also be properly marked. Due to the development of dense smoke, it must be strictly restricted. For these reasons, all escape signs must be equipped with backup batteries so that they can stay on for at least 90 minutes in the event of a fire or other emergency. Many of these devices also have emergency lighting. The top light can maximize the amount of available light and make the exit more obvious. The firefighter checked whether all the headlights were working properly and whether the batteries were normal.

List 3: Fire Alarm Control Panel

The control center is responsible for monitoring and controlling the fire alarm system at your location. The fire watch guard inspects the fire alarm control panel to confirm that the required annual maintenance and inspection of the fire alarm has been carried out and recorded by certified personnel.

Make sure that your control label is up to date and that no warning lights are activated on your panel to avoid references. The warning lights are automatically quoted, so it is best to simply correct the situation before the firefighters arrive.
