A Guide to Seriously Deep Cleaning Your Kitchen

Last Updated on October 15, 2022 by

The kitchen is surely one of the most used areas in any household. So, keeping it clean is important not only for the look but also for your own health and safety. A dirty kitchen can easily contaminate the food cooked there. Now, if you are having a hard time dealing with your messy kitchen and don’t know where to start, here is my guide with help from cleaning services London to seriously deep clean your kitchen.

Start with the countertop

All our kitchen tools and goodies stay on the countertop. The preparation of cooking is often done on the countertops too. So, it’s evident that this will be one of the dirtiest places in your kitchen. First, remove all the stuff off your kitchen countertop. Then use a cleaner and a piece of cloth to wipe down the area thoroughly. While placing the stuff back on the countertop, don’t forget to wipe down the spice racks or knife holders too.

Deal with the sink and stove

All our dirty dishes end up in the sink and get cleaned there. So, it’s only a matter of time before your sink gets dirty with food stains and oily residue. To deep clean your sink, prepare a mixture of baking soda and water and apply it all over the sink with a toothbrush. After you let the mixture rest sometime, use vinegar on top of it to break down the mixture. Lastly, rinse the whole sink with cold water from the tap to get a clean sink. As for the greasy stove, the same technique applies with a mixture of white vinegar, water, and castile soap.

The kitchen appliances are a must

Don’t forget the kitchen appliances here. The outside of appliances like the fridge and oven can be filled with fingerprints and stains, and the inside can get smelly and unhygienic. To deep clean the fridge, try to empty it and remove the racks and drawers. Wipe the inside with a microfiber cloth and liquid cleaner. While the inside dries in the air, clean the shelves and drawers with hot water and liquid cleaner. While you are rearranging foods again in the fridge, toss any old food that has the potential to spread a bad smell. As for the oven, clean the inside of the oven with the same microfiber cloth and soapy water. Then take some white vinegar with lemon juice and boil the water inside the oven for an hour at the lowest heat. That should remove any unpleasant odor.

Clean the cabinets

While we take out necessary stuff and dishes out of the cabinets daily, we forget to take a peek inside a see the condition inside. Over time, the inside of your cabinet can get sticky and smelly, not a good sign for stuff stored inside. Remove all the stuff inside and wipe the cabinet surface with a micro fiber cloth and soapy water to clean the cabinets. The same goes for the knobs and the pulls on the cabinet doors.

Finish by cleaning the wall and floor

Lastly, you want to dust the whole kitchen wall and eliminate the dust buildup on the walls or the curtains. Don’t leave the lighting, top of the fridge, cabinet, and shelves in the process. As for the floor, get a mop and bowl of water mixed with floor cleaner. This will remove any food stains on the floor alongside germs and bacteria.
