Did you know that experts recommend changing your mattress every five to ten years? The main reason is that as time passes, the material in a mattress begins to deteriorate. As you can imagine, sleeping on an old mattress will leave you feeling stiff, damaging your overall health and wellness.

Are you planning on changing your mattress? If so, you’ll want to know the different types of mattresses that you can buy. Only then can you make sure you get the best mattress type for your well-being. There are different types of mattresses and that include foam, innerspring, hybrid, latex, airbed and foldable mattress.

Innerspring Mattress

Innerspring mattresses are the most common, so you’ve likely had one in your home in the past. These mattresses have coil springs located inside them, which compress when you lay on them and then decompress as soon as you stand up.

The downside of an innerspring mattress is that there’s minimal cushioning between the springs and the top of the mattress. Of course, the best innerspring mattress will have an extra layer of cotton, which provides a more comfortable sleeping experience.

Furthermore, an innerspring bed is also a lot cheaper than other types of mattresses. So, if you’re on a tight budget, this is the mattress for you.

Foam Mattress

If you suffer from sleepless nights, you might want to consider getting a foam mattress with a thick layer of polyfoam. As you can imagine, a foam bed is far more comfortable than a spring-based bed since its core consists of polyfoam instead of coil springs.

Additionally, a foam mattress may have extra layers of memory foam or latex. These materials provide better pressure release, movement isolation, and reduced noise when moving on the bed.

One downside of this bed is that it can stain easily, so be sure to place a down duvet. And if your down duvet does get stained, be sure to check out this useful link about how to Wash a Down Duvet.

Latex Mattress

A latex bed is quite unique compared to the other types of mattresses since it’s made out of rubber. The latex used in this type of bed is usually denser and firmer, which helps you feel more comfortable as you sleep. In addition, many health experts recommend getting a latex bed if you have back problems since it provides firm support for your spine.

The biggest downside of a latex bed is that it’s expensive to buy. Additionally, it’s far heavier than a conventional bed, so you won’t be able to move it around once it’s on the bed frame.

As you have seen, the mattress industry has designed plenty of types of mattresses to sleep on. But, keep in mind that only one will be the perfect fit for you. So, be sure to try out each mattress and pick the one that you feel will benefit your body the most.
