We’ve all heard the basics of dental hygiene. You need to brush your teeth twice and floss your teeth once every day, get regular dental checkups, and protect your smile however you can. But what if you want to go deeper with your oral care? Well, there are a lot of different ways to take care of your oral hygiene, and if you take a few extra steps you can guarantee that you will have the cleanest teeth that your dentist has ever seen!

Use Fluoride and Mouthwash

These two extra steps only take a few minutes to complete (and one can even be done while brushing), and they help to ensure that your teeth are free from bacteria. A Fluoride toothpaste is able to aid you against tooth decay, and can provide an extra protective barrier for your teeth.

Mouthwash is able to catch all the nooks and crannies in your mouth that you can’t get even with the most dedicated brushing and flossing routine. A good mouthwash can also reduce the amount of acid in the mouth and can aid your teeth in becoming remineralized. Just make sure to pick both the right mouthwash and the right toothpaste available for you and your oral health needs.

Drink and Eat Right For Oral Health

You know that you shouldn’t be eating sugar and sweets while you are trying to take good care of your teeth, and you should stay away from drinking sodas and other sugary and acidic beverages. But then that begs the question, what should you eat to benefit your oral health instead of harming it?

On the drink side, you should be drinking lots of water because it is not only good for you, but it also helps to wash your mouth and remove some of the effects of sticky or acidic foods. Additionally, you can eat crunchy fruits and vegetables to not only give yourself some extra fiber, but also to help improve your teeth.

Don’t Forget To Brush Your Tongue

You’ve got a whole mouth to worry about, and while you might choose to focus pretty heavily on your teeth, you shouldn’t forget about your tongue. Plaque can build up on your tongue, which can lead to odors in the mouth as well as other oral health problems, plus it can mitigate all the hard work you are doing protecting your mouth by brushing and flossing so well.

So make sure to gently brush your tongue or use a tongue scraper tool to clean your tongue every time you brush. That will help keep it clean and also ensure that your mouth health is as 100%.

Replace Your Toothbrush Often

While some people like to only replace their toothbrush whenever they go to the dentist and get a new one with their visit, you need to be replacing yours a lot more than that. Whatever toothbrush you choose to use, you need to make sure that you are replacing it often, especially whenever the bristles get damaged and start sticking out.

It can seem like a hassle to have to replace your brush, but the faster you replace your toothbrush with something new, the faster you can ensure that you are brushing your teeth with the most effective brush ever. If you try and brush your teeth with a damaged or older brush, then you won’t be cleaning your teeth as well.

So always make sure to keep an eye on your toothbrush and replace it every couple of months, because it is your best tool for taking care of your dental hygiene, and it needs to be in tip top shape for it to work.

Caring For Your Dental Hygiene Is A Daily Process

There’s no one set of dental hygiene supplies or steps you can take to ensure that your mouth gets clean. Instead you need to ensure that you are putting in the effort every single day to improve your dental hygiene and keep your teeth clean. It can sometimes seem like more effort than it is worth, but the reason that you have such good dental health is because you’ve been constantly cleaning your teeth.

So don’t be afraid to do whatever you can in order to improve your dental hygiene. Not only are you going to improve your oral health and prevent yourself from getting things like cavities and gum disease, but you are also going to recieve a lot more praise from your dentist!
