The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) has announced the winners of its prestigious Star Award for 2022. This coveted list once again includes celebrated and internationally acclaimed board-certified Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility specialist Dr. Zaher Merhi.

“What an honor!” says Dr. Merhi. “Thank you, ASRM, for awarding me the ‘Star Award’ for the third year in a row. It is such a privilege that I get to help out so many women, men, and couples build their families. I wouldn’t want to do anything else!”

The 2022 ASRM Star Award recognizes members who have presented during at least nine of the ASRM Annual Meetings/ASRM Scientific Congresses starting in 2012. These presentations can include postgraduate or Pre-Congress courses/seminars, Scientific Program symposia, posters and/or abstracts. The Star Award, given annually, is to profess gratitude for those who have devoted countless hours toward shaping ASRM into the leading society for reproductive medicine.

Dr. Merhi is the founder of Rejuvenating Fertility Center (RFC), Manhattan and Connecticut’s first IVF Center to utilize non-conventional fertility methods. He worked in the fertility field for over 20 years prior to founding RFC and currently serves as its medical director. He is also currently a Professor at SUNY Downstate University and Maimonides Medical Center. His extensive training and faculty appointments include the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the NYU School of Medicine, and the University of Vermont.

Dr. Merhi’s board certifications include OB/GYN, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and High-Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD). In addition, he serves as the Chair for multiple high-profile committees, including the Endocrine Society, American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), New England Fertility Society, and Society for Reproductive Investigation (SRI), among others.

As an internationally recognized fertility expert, lecturer, editor, grant reviewer, and educator, Dr. Merhi continues to focus his research on ovarian reserve (low AMH or high FSH), PRP ovarian rejuvenation, gentle stimulation IVF, natural IVF, and IVF without injectables. At RFC, he has pioneered multiple cutting-edge and holistic treatments, blending the old with the new to ensure that every patient has a fighting chance to become pregnant with her own eggs.

Along with his team at RFC, Dr. Merhi has implemented the latest technology for treatments such as Ozone Sauna therapy, which has the potential to improve egg quality in patients presenting with endometriosis, immune disorders, body inflammation, and PCOS. He’s published over 100 manuscripts and papers. In addition to his recognition in medical circles, Dr. Merhi and his research have been featured in various articles by major news outlets such as the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC, Bloomberg, ABC News, USA Today, Yahoo Finance, the NY Post, and others. He has also graced the pages of popular magazines like Harvard Business Review, Glamour, Instyle, Parade, Women’s Health, Allure, and more.

”My primary goal is to continue my research into fertility and continually provide the latest technology to my patients,” he says. His passion remains making fertility achievable for all patients and RFC has no cutoffs for weight or age, but instead creates customized fertility treatment plans based on multiple factors, including the patient’s prior reactions to IVF cycles.
