There are 5 main roles for audio engineers and each plays a very specific role within the industry and the path to each of these roles come with its own unique attributes.

Recording Engineer-

You can become a recording engineer by following three main routes. You can start working as an apprentice at a recording studio and start getting acquainted with the basic skills such as learning audio equalization, monitoring the sound levels, and understanding how to navigate the mixing boards. Learning these skills can also help you become an assistant engineer.

Mixing Engineer-

Once the initial recording is done, mixing engineers enter the scene. They create a uniform audio mix using digital workstations such as Logic, Pro Tools, or Ableton. A specialized mixing engineer is quite the same as a recording engineer and can also start their career as an apprentice in some studio. They do the final check on a recorded sound’s quality.

Live sound engineer-
