The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an entrance examination that allows admission to National level law universities and other private colleges. Any 10+2 student securing a minimum of 45% marks in the board examination from a recognized board is eligible to appear in the CLAT. The preparation for this exam requires a clear idea of the CLAT Syllabus. The syllabus for CLAT is available on the official website of the Consortium of National Law Universities. The syllabus includes subjects like the English language, Logical reasoning, Legal aptitude, Quantitative techniques, and General knowledge of current affairs. The syllabus focuses on the knowledge and skills required for legal education and the development of analytical abilities and aptitude. The five sections mentioned above will carry different weights in the CLAT question paper with more emphasis on legal ability and general knowledge.

What Is CLAT 2022?

CLAT 2022, full form, is the Common Law Admission Test is the most renowned law entrance exam arranged for the candidates who wish to take admission to Law UG Courses. Approx, more than 50,000 candidates take the CLAT Law Entrance Test. The CLAT 2022 exam for UG admissions contains 150 questions from five subjects, including English Language, Current Affairs, General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques. 

The CLAT Syllabus Pattern

The CLAT syllabus is based on the question paper pattern of CLAT 2022. Students need to answer a total of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQ) distributed among different sections. Students will get 1 mark for each correct answer but 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. The questions will be asked from a given passage. The syllabus takes care of the basics of the English language including comprehension skills, the ability to make conclusions, recognize words and phrases, etc. 

The Logical reasoning part requires the application of logical thinking to draw inferences from the given passage and resolve problems. The legal reasoning syllabus helps to improve knowledge related to law. Quantitative aptitude is a mathematics-based problem-solving technique involving numerical interpretation and analysis of the information given through charts and graphs. Students need to read books, newspapers, and journals to update their knowledge on current affairs and other topics. They have to practice more on logical reasoning and quantitative analysis problems taking references from previous years’ papers

How Can Candidates Apply For Clat 2022?

The candidates should apply online for the CLAT 2022 examination through the official website of the National Consortium of Law Universities where they have to submit all relevant educational details along with supporting documents and set a priority list for universities of their choice. The application process for CLAT 2022 needs to be completed by 9th May 2022. The CLAT 2022 exam will be held on 19th June 2022. The admit card for CLAT 2022 for eligible candidates will be released by the Consortium of National Law Universities on 6th June 2022. Candidates who have completed the application process successfully and were selected for appearing in the exam can download their admit card from the official website. The admit card provides all relevant information like CLAT 2022 exam date, time, and examination centre. Students must check their details as provided in the admit card to ensure smooth entry to the examination centre.

Clat 2022 Selection Process

Candidates seeking admission to law colleges and universities must complete the application process for appearing in CLAT 2022. The candidates appearing for CLAT will get qualified for admission to law universities only after securing minimum cut-off marks in the exam. The cut-off marks vary from one institution to another. Last year’s cut-off mark was 90-95 for admission to the top 10 national law universities. 

The other universities accepted a cut-off mark of a minimum of 83. The qualified candidates in the CLAT will go through a counselling session as per the rank for admissions to universities and colleges. They will be granted seats as per their priority list of colleges (given in the application form) depending on the seat availability. Candidates have to complete the registration process and submit the counselling fee along with their rank and then they will be considered for CLAT Seat Allotment 2022.
